  1. HOW TO REQUEST A REFUND

3.1 Contact Us

Include:

  • Your order number (found in your confirmation email)
  • Email address used for purchase
  • Product name
  • Brief reason (optional – helps us improve, but not required for refund)

3.2 We’ll Process It

We’ll process your refund within 2-3 business days of receiving your request.

3.3 You’ll Get Your Money Back

Refunds are issued to your original payment method:

  • Credit/debit card: 5-10 business days
  • PayPal: 3-5 business days
  • Other payment methods: varies by processor

  1. SPECIFIC REFUND TERMS

4.1 Digital Books (PDF)

ELIGIBILITY:

  • 30 days from purchase date
  • Even after downloading the file

PROCESS:

  • Email refunds@thebrief.ing
  • Refund processed within 2-3 business days
  • You may delete the file, but it’s not required

NO PENALTY:

  • We don’t track who requests refunds
  • Requesting a refund doesn’t affect future purchases
  • You can still buy from us in the future

4.2 Physical Books (Paperback/Hardcover)

ELIGIBILITY:

  • 30 days from delivery date (not order date)
  • Book must be in original condition
  • Normal wear from reading is acceptable

PROCESS:

  1. Email refunds@thebrief.ing for return authorization
  2. We’ll provide return shipping instructions
  3. Ship the book back to us
  4. Refund processed when we receive the book (typically 2-3 business days after receipt)

SHIPPING COSTS:

  • You pay return shipping (unless book is defective or we sent wrong item)
  • We recommend trackable shipping method
  • Keep your shipping receipt

REFUND AMOUNT:

  • Full purchase price refunded
  • Original shipping cost: NOT refunded (unless defective/wrong item)
  • Return shipping cost: NOT refunded (unless defective/wrong item)

4.3 Monthly Subscriptions

FIRST MONTH:

  • Full refund if cancelled within 30 days of first charge
  • No questions asked
  • Includes both digital and physical book (if applicable)

SUBSEQUENT MONTHS:

  • Refund available for current month if requested within 30 days of billing date
  • Example: Billed on March 1st, can request refund until March 31st
  • Only current month is refunded (not previous months)

PHYSICAL BOOKS:

  • If you received a physical book, follow physical book return process above
  • Digital file doesn’t need to be returned

CANCELLATION vs. REFUND:

  • Cancellation: Stops future billing (no refund)
  • Refund request: Gets money back for current period

You can cancel AND request a refund for the current month.


  1. DEFECTIVE OR INCORRECT ITEMS

5.1 Our Responsibility

If you receive:

  • Damaged book
  • Wrong book/title
  • Defective product
  • Missing items from your order

WE’LL FIX IT:

  • Full refund, OR
  • Free replacement, OR
  • Store credit for future purchase

YOUR CHOICE.

5.2 Free Return Shipping

For defective or incorrect items:

  • We pay return shipping
  • We’ll send you a prepaid shipping label
  • No cost to you

5.3 Report Issues Quickly

Report defects within:

  • 7 days of delivery for physical books
  • 48 hours of download for digital books

6.1 Our Processing Time

We process refund requests within 2-3 business days of:

  • Receiving your refund request (digital products)
  • Receiving returned book (physical products)

6.2 Payment Processor Time

After we process, your bank/payment processor takes:

  • Credit/debit cards: 5-10 business days
  • PayPal: 3-5 business days
  • Other methods: varies (typically 5-10 days)

6.3 Total Time

Expect to see refund:

  • Digital products: 7-13 business days from request
  • Physical products: 10-20 business days from initiating return

6.4 Notification

You’ll receive email confirmation when:

  • We receive your refund request
  • We process your refund
  • Refund is sent to payment processor

  1. WHAT’S NOT COVERED

7.1 Outside 30-Day Window

Refunds are not available:

  • More than 30 days after purchase (digital)
  • More than 30 days after delivery (physical)
  • More than 30 days after billing (subscriptions)

EXCEPTION: Defective products are covered beyond 30 days at our discretion.

7.2 Abusive Refund Requests

We reserve the right to deny refunds for:

  • Repeated refund requests (buying and returning same book multiple times)
  • Fraudulent requests
  • Violation of our Terms of Service

We track patterns, not individual refunds. One or two refunds? No problem. Pattern of abuse? We’ll address it.


  1. SUBSCRIPTION-SPECIFIC TERMS

8.1 Cancellation Without Refund

You can cancel your subscription anytime:

  • Email support@thebrief.ing
  • Or use your account dashboard
  • Cancellation takes effect at end of current billing period
  • No refund for cancellation alone (use refund request for current month refund)

8.2 Partial Month Refunds

We do NOT offer:

  • Pro-rated refunds for partial months
  • Refunds for previous months after 30 days

8.3 Access After Refund

After refund:

  • You keep books received in previous months
  • Access to current month’s content is revoked (digital)
  • You may keep current month’s physical book if not returned

  1. REASONS WE’VE HEARD (You Don’t Need One!)

People request refunds for many reasons:

  • “Didn’t meet expectations”
  • “Not what I was looking for”
  • “Changed my mind”
  • “Already read similar content elsewhere”
  • “Too advanced/too basic”
  • “Different format than expected”
  • “Just didn’t like it”

ALL VALID. NO EXPLANATION NEEDED.

We just want to know your order number.


  1. GIFT PURCHASES

10.1 Purchased as Gift

If you purchased books as a gift:

  • You (purchaser) can request refund within 30 days
  • Recipient cannot request refund (they didn’t pay)
  • Same refund process applies

10.2 Received as Gift

If you received books as a gift:

  • Contact the person who gave you the gift
  • They can request refund on your behalf
  • Or you can exchange for different book (contact support@thebrief.ing)

  1. DUPLICATE PURCHASES

If you accidentally purchased the same book twice:

  • Contact support@thebrief.ing immediately
  • We’ll refund the duplicate within 24 hours
  • This doesn’t count against 30-day window

  1. SUBSCRIPTION PAUSES

Instead of cancelling and requesting refund, consider pausing:

  • Pause subscription for 1-3 months
  • Resume when ready
  • No charge during pause
  • Contact support@thebrief.ing to arrange

  1. EXCHANGES

13.1 Exchange Policy

We don’t currently offer exchanges, but you can:

  1. Request refund for unwanted book
  2. Purchase different book separately

13.2 Future Feature

We’re working on a simple exchange system. Until then, refund + repurchase is fastest option.


  1. INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS

Our refund policy is the same worldwide:

  • Same 30-day guarantee
  • Same refund process
  • Refunded in currency you paid

RETURN SHIPPING (Physical Books):

  • International customers pay return shipping
  • Can be expensive – consider if refund value justifies shipping cost
  • Alternative: Keep book, we’ll still refund (our discretion for international cases)
